It seems we all want to mimic talk radio and express our view of the matter in language that would be the envy of a top rate talker. When this thread began, I thought we had a good opportunity to have an adult conversation on what is the envelope for acceptable teminology to describe our political differences.
But, not, we have decided to have a down-and-dirty food fight. And that is my complaint about Talk Radio today. It has given us the feeling of permission, the feeling of a comfort zone, the concept that language that would have gotten us ostracized from social groups in years gone by is now the norm, the acceptable, even the expected.
I can already reprise the responses I will get from this: You need to read history. Our nation has always been outspoken. The discussion of politics has always been rowdy.
I would propose that a few select people who were lacking in reasonable social graces have through out the history of our nation spoken of one another in language of the gutter and the pool-hall. We survived in spite of it. Our nation...in my opinion... did not become great because a few colorful politicians were lacking in dignity.
We became a great nation because we wanted our communities, including people who were different than us, to come to agreements in the envelope called "self government" and get on with it.
There are days when I turn off the radio and mutter: We have Talk Radio or we can have Civilization... but we can't have both.

I've come to the conclusion that it's a quest for all of talkradio is to be the edjiest regardless of the consequences. That is why I never listen to Drugbo or the rest of those morons.

This from someone who repeatedly uses "Gov'mint".....Rush was stood-down live by a caller on the radio for repeatedly using "Axe Me", he never uttered It Again. And then again there was IMUS, but you wouldn't know anything about that, would you. And yes, I've heard all the reverse arguements about the Big N word, no matter which side uses it, it's wrong.

+1, but unfortunately for the most part it's pearls before swine.

Gov'mint is bad (in relation to ruling class liberals, or just in general?). Nappy's okay. Drugbo... is that kosher? So many rules... do people make this stuff up as they go along? It's hard to stay up to date with the latest. I need a subscription to 'Offense For Profit and Obfuscation.'

You know, most radios I've ever owned have two knobs on them (or a pair of up and down buttons)
One will make the offending personality go away completely by changing the frequency. The other will turn the volume down so that you don't have to hear it.
Why is that so complicated?

It isn't complicated but the supports of the nanny state are constipated on this one. Rather it be Henry Waxman, Harry Reid, Micheal Bloomberg, Felix Ortiz, Sylvester Turner, Joe Liberman or Myra Crownover. By the way I listed Democrats, Independents, and Republicans .

Nothing that useless Scumbag says surpises me. What I find pathetic is the listeners who live, breathe and believe his vile lies and hatred or find him amusing. The sooner Limblowhard falls off the face of this earth the better. Hope he lands at the bottom of the sea with Bin Laden. I love how some folks respect other people's opinion.
