B-E AM-10A
« on: June 01, 2011, 09:22:16 PM »

I have one that is a real PITA. Constantly getting a power supply overload, the only cure for which is a hard (wall breaker) reset... and a 30-mile drive. The supply will work for a day or two and then overload. I've tried swapping among the supplies, so I know it is one particular supply. Nothing seems to check bad. Any ideas??

I think PCS as well (pregnant cap syndrome) which leads to Tango Uniform if not repaired. Which makes engineer even more busy replacing bad components and the Burk getting the grumpy Engineer out of bed at 3:00 A.M.

I inherited a 5A that had all sorts of power supply issues, ranging from explosive crow-bar situations to modules overloading and having to be reset.  The transmitter had been installed as a replacement for the original, and so the grounding was more or less daisy chained.  About 3 years ago, I reworked the site so that everything ran to a single point ground.  No power supply problems since then. (fingers still crossed, it is an A series BE after all).

Interesting... The grounding could be suspect. I'll check that angle.

(still don't know what Tango Uniform means...)
