still wouldn't make sense, DJ. A news station that's off the air at night? Or one that goes off the air during PM drive and returns to the air during AM drive throughout the winter?
Something tells me KIKK will be simulcasting a CBS FM counterpart until they can sell it. They've never made any money with it and it is the apparent red-headed stepchild of the cluster.

Simulcast with FM and have a full time news station. If this were being planned, Mr. Clanton wouldn't have been given the boot.

Imagine CBS simulcasting KRLD's programming from Dallas here on KIKK. With some of the newspeople you hear on KRLD, people here might think they're listening to KTRH...

Wonder what might happen to that KIKK calls? Take them and park it somewhere despite it's irrelevance once that property finds a buyer?

Why does CBS own this station in the first place?! Kind of shocking for a big time radio player to own such a dismal signal that doesn't even broadcast the whole day.

With real radio personalities and a few good newsmen; it was a pretty good little player in it's heyday. If CBS would be willing to turn a decent crew loose with it and not expect too much out of it; they might be surprised at the result. But, you always have the suits that want more out of it than it can produce. Then, they go to tinkering with it, instead of leaving the people who know what they're doing with it alone to do real radio. You know. The fun kind. Like we used to be able to do.
Sure. It's a light bulb. But, so are a half dozen other signals in this market; and they seem to survive. All depends on your perspective, I suppose. Or who's running it.

They acquired it through a sale, that's how. It was package deal. When the mid-90s conglomeration mess began, KILT 610AM & 100.3FM and KIKK 650AM & 95.7FM came under the Westinghouse/Infinty/CBS umbrellas.

I doubt that China Radio International would pick up a third AM, but they do like to pop up unannounced at the beginning of the month. Somebody's obviously buying the full day... I'm surprised nobody has guessed "BizRadio" yet.

I'm surprised nobody has guessed "BizRadio" yet. If that were true, Brent Clanton would stay. He would and is the perfect fit. Nobody would want to use the tainted name of BizRadio here in Houston.
