DP and Vent, the way you would have it wouldn't do any of those three things. A wide variety playlist isn't viable in this community. It's been tried and failed. Wide variety playlist formats don't resonate with listeners here, hence they don't have an audience that advertisers are interested in...therefore, no revenue. ...since neither of you believe that there's ANY local input to WXMX, WGKX or WRBO...oh, and throw in WKIM, too....since three of them are in the top five stations in the market in virtually every demo.

RG- you must have me confused w/ someone else.  i never said don't serve your community.  my point was for you not to wrap yourself in the "We R Citadel, We R local hear me Roar" cloth because, well because ur not.  Unsolicited advice:  as you begin your programming career, don't program to the whims of this board or you will meet the fate of those who troll this board.

DP- You must have ME confused with someone else....I've been at this game for over 30 years, so I'm not 'just starting' my career. Sure, Citadel in Memphis is not 100% local....my point is that there's way more local product in the cluster than the competition, and it's successful programming. As for the whole discussion, those of you on the outside seem to know more about our operation than those of us on the inside.....curious, huh?

With the exception of Steve Harvey and Baisden the music stations are all local from what I can tell.  And the new NEWSTALK station has some local programming and nationally syndicated programs.  But there isn't a news talk station in American that is 100% ALL LOCAL.   Citadel wins the local VS syndicated battle by a mile and it shows in their ratings!
