We are all radio geeks or we wouldn't be on this board. I really don't think this little translator will affect B-98.5 at all. Zip. 100kw vs 250w. Really? And is Cumulus going to spend the $$ to promote it? Probably not. I know I wouldn't. I'd put up billboards and run TV ads for my 100kw stations. Not a translator.
So while it's been fun for all of us to speculate, get excited, compare programming, audio, etc, the reality is, in the REAL world of average folks, this signal means nothing.
In the words of Officer Barbrady, "Move along people, there's nothing to see here."
Agree and disagree. Yes, it won't affect B or Wild in the long run.
No. They will promote it. They already are promoting it AS IF it were a full-power station. To the general public, it's a NEW station, no matter about the signal. If it's programmed well, and you can receive it, you will keep it.
Which leads to the thought that a good low power status could become high power through a swap with an underperforming regular-powered station. Cumulus has done it before; kinda like running a minor league farm team.
