I assumed that is the way it is, but with so many stations just airing simulcasts, just wondering if the FCC might come up with any ideas to reclaim space that isn't used for original programming?
Have you been following the FCC lately? "Coming up with ideas" is not really their MO.

The latest rumor is that the talk format will be aimed at women.

Yeah, that'll go over really well. It's a failed format. It's failed everywhere:
Albany, NY - 1300 AM (now a local talk station)
Baltimore, MD - 1370 AM (Now Sports Talk)
Boston, MA - 1570 AM (now Spanish)
Hartford, CT - 990 AM (Now Spanish Religion)
These are 4 station that were at one time doing a "Talk Radio for Women" format. I'm sure there were others.

All low power AMs. It didn't matter what format they did. They were going to fail. Period. Especially if they ran the ill-fated, short-lived syndicated talk network aimed at women.
Don't use those stations as an indication of anything, expect low power AMs running weak syndicated talk are destined to fail.

The "Boston" station listed by Marc B. doesn't put a usable signal into Boston at night and is down in the mud during the day. I believe it's COL is Beverly, some 15 miles up the coast.

So let's think about this for a minute. Female oriented talk. Hmmm. Who's the most successful female oriented talker? Could her name start with an "O?" Does "O" live in Chicago? Does she have a friend whose name starts with a "G?" Has "G" done radio before? Does she have a friend and neighbor whose name starts with an "R?" Is "R" part of the most successful radio show ever, especially in NYC? Did we not hear rumors a few weeks ago about "R" maybe doing a show of her own?
Radio is about building passion and a fan base. Women naturally love to group together in supportive and nurturing ways. If I was a betting man, and those three women were actually involved in this station (all three being women of color), I'd say this might work.
How's THAT for starting a good rumor?

NOW 92.3 has been a fun experiment but i think its time to flip 92.3 back to rock if RXP flips to news/talk
WXRK is NOW FM and WXRP is Rock, I think someone got this mixed up.
No, You got it wrong. The first post was right. XRK used to be rock hence the BACK TO ROCK comment.

102.7 should go Classic Rock or Alternative, yes... doubt 92.3 will go back to K-Rock at this point. 101.9 should go country if you ask me, but my hunch is still on news/talk...
CC probably won't flip any of their stations to sports (remember that Power is a flanker for Hot 97, and flipping that to sports would spell trouble)
Why would 102. flip to Classic rock? They are making money as FRESH, Q104 is solid and Alt rock has no market and no advertisers. #fail X2

And the fact that Alexis Stewart just left Martha Stewart Radio on SiriusXM recently too.

Somebody's been there and done that in NYC! Remember Blink 102.7? If you blinked, you missed it!
