On Wednesday's show, Gil talked about Gene Burns.  He explained that Gene's condition (caused by a stroke, I guess) has caused him to often use the wrong words when speaking.  According to Gil, Gene is healthy, ambulatory, and feeling fine.  His speech is not slurred, but apparently he picks the wrong words often.

This obviously makes it impossible for him to host a talk show, but Gil pointed out that it's very possible that Gene's condition may improve greatly, or even resolve itself.  The human brain is amazing in that way.

Owwie, word choice problems are really frustrating.  I bet he'll work past them, but in the meantime he's probably Not Safe For Radio.

They're probably minor, but extremely embarrassing.  Pat Thurston had visited him and said that he was saying something and said "three" but put up two fingers and didn't notice that the action didn't match the word.

I wouldn't imagine that he'd let out with obscene invectives or anything.
