KUSF (simulcasting KDFC) at reduced signal strength

The KDFC website reports that equipment work done on KUSF (90.3)  early Friday morning made things worse, rather than better. The signal is still, on Monday afternoon, barely audible in the North Bay, where it was not very strong, but at least listenable, before. The signal seems to be losing out to KWMR, 90.5, Pt. Reyes Station. It was not made clear if the work that created the problem was part of the relocation of the KUSF transmitter to a higher elevation site in Marin County.

I hope KDFC can serve the entire Bay Area well soon.

Is KDFC (KUSF) is broadcastiing from their new tower on Wolfback ridge?  Right now I can hear 90.3 signal in my apartment southern part of San Francisco.

Then why not listen on 89.9?  KDFC comes in just fine from Angwin through most of central Marin and into Sonoma and Napa counties.

KUSF 90.3 is broadcasting from their new tower. They filed a license to cover a couple weeks ago and the license has been granted by the FCC. I wonder if the signal is better now. I found this on their website.

"The signal for 90.3 has been moved from the University of San Francisco campus (the current license holder of the signal) to a hill above Sausalito. The signal is in a testing phase. This will improve coverage from Northern Marin to SFO, and along the same latitudes in the East Bay on the west side of the hills from El Cerrito to Oakland, and possibly further south. Line of site constraints and building penetration issues may cause continued reception problems in some areas, but generally this new antenna location should be a vast improvement for many in the coverage area of this signal."

"Line of site"?  I would expect the president of a classical station holding company to be more literate than that...

KDFC and KUSF each broadcasting different selections of classical music and different announcements. This presumably has to do with the latter transmitter being tested at its new Marin County location, probably with recordings of earlier programs. I didn't expect to see KUSF moved to Marin until the FCC approved the sale of the station. The latest update on the KDFC website states that the University of San Francisco still owns KUSF. Perhaps the FCC granting permission for the transmitter move is an indication that they will probably approve the sale in the near future.

KDFC not heard since at least as early as 6 a.m. today. A strong carrier in the North Bay, but 'dead air'. KUSF heard with normal KDFC programs. Several persons have commented on the KDFC outage on their webpage, but no one from the station has responded.

Speaking of KDFC, I know they will add a south bay signal on May 24th, 2012.  Is their Eureka/Arcata translator is still on the air or not?  I don't see them mention on their website, or on the radio.

The Eureka translator has been silent for a while. I think it had something to with an interference issue with another translator that came on the air
