How hard is it to write a script? If you're searching online social sites for something so basic, I doubt you'll have your job much longer. I'm just sayin'

One of America's best programmers has said that writing an infomercial is not so hard, but writing a 60 for the same client that works is a lot harder while writing a good 30 second script is something few people can do well.

Writing copy may be easy. Writing good copy is not. Read some of the brilliant pieces of copy David Ogilvy wrote as examples of good copy.

Seriously?  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

Do you, similarly, think that The Bard of Avon's works are not valid because they were not written during your lifetime?

Ogilvy's copy should be read and appreciated by anyone who writes today... whether it be for a used car lot or for P&G.

I have no idea who that even is Huh

So, neither William Shakespeare nor David Ogilvy are names known to you?

How embarrassing.

It's 2011. You're writing a script, not poetry. It's called THINKING. How hard is that?

Good copy is a lot like poetry. It must bear repetition and be memorable. It must satisfy a desire or create one by painting word pictures.

Ogilvy was a wordsmiths of the first order.

Defending Shakespeare shouldn't be necessary. Neither should using great writing as a learning tool.

..Is this the future of broadcast radio?

(I had the same thought when I overheard a co-worker say, quite seriously, "I don't need this job; I can get on at McDonald's.")
