Well, 101.9 isn't streaming, but from what everybody's saying about it, it wasn't worth killing WRXP for.

http://www.fmnewsnewyork.com/

I really haven't read up on them in a few weeks. But I didn't expect them to be a serious news powerhouse (that distinction will ALWAYS belong to WINS IMHO) So I could only assume you'd might hear more fluff and filler than hard news as WEMP's angle into this format (such as what led to our MILF controversy.) With the younger audience that FM is supposed to have, I can see why they'd want to go for stories and headlines that grab shorter attention spans.

And it seems I was right.

I could actually see this taking off in pure suburbia, like Lynnwood, Washington. Which is filled with leisurely avenues of corporate fast food joints and strip malls where nobody thinks too deeply.

But not in a MASSIVE urban center like NYC.

Well, 101.9 isn't streaming...

Actually, Bongwater, on the contrary - they just started streaming 101.9 yesterday! (Chicago, too!)

Listening online right now-- not impressed. Anchors have a lot of starting and stopping and tripping over their words. Traffic report is the best thing I've heard yet. I'm shocked... isn't this NYC??

Ditto.  Listening online in DFW during PM Drive today and there were some noticeable "where am i going" lapses.  More stumbles than I thought there would be too.  Just can't hear the appeal but I'm not the demo.  Guess we'll see.  Some of the production bumpers were pretty good...better than the product itself.

They have a few more weeks of experience doing traffic reports. And their traffic reports are the most comprehensive. Perhaps they should just be New York's Traffic Station: all traffic reports, all the time!

Why is the traffic and weather on the 5's? I would figure it would be on the 9's or maybe 1's because of being at 101.9

As for the station their are a few mistakes when their talking and pauses. Also a lot of pop news, they should called the station 101.9 TMZ Radio. CBS doesn't have anything to worry about.

Well, if Traffic's on the 1's on WINS and on the 8's on WCBS, it makes best sense to split the difference and do it on the fives, in between CBS New York's traffic breaks, when there's no other traffic on the air.

But traffic is on the 5's on Bloomberg Radio. 101.9 should have had traffic on the 3's so that we could always be within 2 minutes of a traffic report all day (except during a Yankees game)
