What about Jax and Gainesville?  Any live/local DJs on music stations without a twang?

In the Gainesville / Ocala market the following music stations are local / live at least during drive-time:

WRUF-FM 103.7 Country
WOGK-FM 93.7 Country
WKTK-FM 98.5 Adult Contemporary
WMFQ-FM 92.9 Hot Adult Contemporary
WNDD-FM 95.5 / WNDT-FM 92.5 / WNDN-FM 107.9 Classic Rock
WKZY-FM 106.9 Hot Adult Contemporary
WYKS-FM 195.3 CHR
WTRS-FM 102.3 Country
WKSG-FM 89.5 CCM
WVLG-AM 640 Adult Contemporary / Standards
WRZN-AM 720 Adult Standards (changing to Fox News Radio later this month)
WHHZ-FM 100.5 Active Rock (I'm not completely certain about WHHZ, but I believe morning drive is local / live)

I know I'm straying off topic.. but I was thinking about stations that were live most of the day... having someone live at 11AM, 2PM or 8PM... that seems very unusual now-a-days (an no one is live on weekends, even on the 800lb gorillas).  Most markets have a couple local morning shows to compete with John Boy and Billy and have some type of varying live interaction during PM drive, if not a full fledged live DJ...  that isn't too uncommon...  Many of the big, competing, 100kw country stations are the only ones you can count on for important weather/traffic/local news outside of AM/PM drive.
WKSM, 99Rock, is the only (non-country) station I know of that has live DJs in FWB/Pensacola.  I would assume PCB would have less and Jax/Tally would have more.  Not sure what to think about the G'ville/Ocala market.  That place is just a weird mess where no one can pick up their favorite stations.

Is this the case nationwide?  Or would AC stations be the ones with warm bodies outside of the south?

WHHZ 100.5 The Buzz has Lex and Terry in the am from 6 till 11. Then from 11am to 3pm Lindsey is on live, and at 3pm Leroy takes over, live 'till 7pm when they go to the syndicated "Harddrive XL" with Lou Brutus.

Bingo... that's the info I was fishing for..
So in Gainesville, Active Rocker 100.5, The Buzz, is Live/Local from 11AM till 7PM weekdays.   So if one is listening to The Buzz while driving back to work, at say 3PM, and major local news breaks (major as in a long term closure of I-75 due to a horrible wreck)... you should at least have a clue that "the shit just hit the fan" when you walk back into work... you may not know details, but at least there was a live body in the studio to clue you in... a live body for the local law to call to get the word out to the public.

With Gulf 104 shifting to Classic Hits... I would fear the loss of live bodies on the air in Tallahassee.  Most of the Classic Hits/Variety Hits type stations are obviously voice tracked, actually all the "hits" stations I'm familiar with are voice tracked.

Thank you for the clarification. I thought about Lex and Terry AFTER I made my last post regarding WHHZ. It's now confirmed. Also I knew in the past the The Buzz was local / live during the rest of the day; however, I wasn' sure if WHHZ was still local during middays and afternoons. Again, thank you for the clarification and confirmation.

No problem, you're quite welcome. Since the WRUF-FM flip, I listen to WHHZ nearly all day every day, so that one was easy for me!  Grin

Exactly ...and it did happen recently, when there was some evacuations in Alachua county due to a fire.

Gulf 104 use to be such an awesome station till they changed their format in Late 2003 which was not easy to get over it! But at the same time i started to listen to another classic rock station called 106.1 because it was a fact that radio station is better then Gulf 104 the Nickleback , Staind , Alter Bridge , Puddle of Mudd , Candlebox , Audioslave  stuff is garbage because i missed their older format!

Now 106.1 changed their format and i had no station to listen to till i finally found one. (won't same the same it will just get bashed if i do) and since 2006 been listening to this great station it's better then Gulf 104 and it plays such good music and that's a fact.

and since Gulf 104 changed their format again then good. It means they are getting back to their roots before the previous format changed that screwed the station up in late 2003,
