Is Craig West from KXOJ Headed to Cox?
« on: October 02, 2011, 10:29:19 AM »

I saw the job posting from KXOJ and I just have to guess that Craig will end up at Cox.  I know he has several friends there.

Sorry.  Just a simple question.  Where is he headed?  He is very talented and will be missed on the Tulsa Radio dial.

I wasn't even aware he was leaving KXOJ. I really don't see him doing anything other than Christian...he's done it for years. So unless Cox plans on bringing Spirit back...

Sorry- just made me chuckle. He is going to be reunited with Mike Kankelfritz, aka Buster Brown here in Tulsa to do the KLOVE morning show on their network.

Mid-November start

And, now that they have an actual rim-shot stick in Tulsa, he should be able to be heard in most of Tulsa at 103.7.

I read about this the other day. I know Craig is too good to say anything about it on KXOJ's air, but I wonder how long it will take listeners to realize they can catch Craig & Kankelfritz on the air in Tulsa again. My understanding is that they'll be based out of Indianapolis.

Yeah.  It's irronically perfect timing considering that they just lit 103.7 up again with the new (to Tulsa) format.  It'll be interesting to see how the KXOJ guys weather a nationwide non-comm as their new competitor.

My take on it is that KXOJ listeners are fiercely loyal. In other words, they won't turn their knob from 100.9 unless they have a reason to, and I don't think the morning guy moving to another station is a reason. They've fought off bigger competitors before (Love 98 and Spirit 102.3).
