I'll bet it was a song that he has wanted them to play for awhile and, not being connected to the station any longer, he has no power to make it happen.

Sometimes people just get very possessive of 'their songs.'
Like Elaine Benes' one-time boyfriend Brett and "Desperado."
And junior high school girls used to get when their song came on the radio, before the days of recordable cassettes...
