KGAN Channel 2 Co-Anchor?

Anyone know what the status is of finding a new co-anchor for Tiffany O'Donnell at KGAN in Cedar Rapids?

I've been told they aren't going to replace Dave Benton.

Maybe I've missed the discussion on this issue, but how is it that Tiffany O'Donnell is an anchor here in DSM on KDSM and also over in CR on KGAN?

I guess I figured there would be some conflict since they're different network affiliates.  Maybe they just don't care since they're in different markets?  Any input?  I guess I didn't realize until just now when I read these posts that Tiffany is working in CR, too.  Weird.

The KDSM (FOX17) newscast is broadcast from Cedar Rapids and KGAN studios.  They are both owned by Sinclair.  KDSM has a couple local reporters based in DSM but all the production, etc. is done in CR.

That's funny because the job opening is still posted on their web site.  If that's the case, just another cheap decision by Sinclair in their quest to have a generic newscast and thinking they are saving a buck.  All the major affiliates have 2 anchors on their local newscasts, that's been the standard for a long time.  KGAN has been in 3rd place in the CR market behind KWWL and KCRG for 10+ years and they won't gain ground anytime soon, especially if this is true.  Sinclair obviously doesn't care about ratings, just making money.  But doesn't ratings equal revenues?  Ever since Sinclair purchased KGAN, they've really slid into a hole.  I wish someone would come along and rescue KGAN but I don't see that happening.

They just moved the operations of KFXA (FOX28) and KDSM (FOX17) to the KGAN studios at Broadcast Park in CR this past summer and Fox's old building is up for sale.  If Sinclair now owns KFXA & KDSM, that must've happened at the same time because they we're owned by a different company and they just had a agreement with KGAN.  KFXA/KDSM has it's own management team it appears.

Sinclair owns KGAN and KDSM. KFXA is still owned by another company. They have a local marketing agreement with KGAN which basically lets one station control the other without breaking any duopoly rules. Similar to KTTC and KXLT in Rochester, MN. KTTC controls KXLT, but both stations have different ownership.
