This news station is not going to fly. Lana and J.P. are old as hell and how much longer can they possible go on doing radio before one of them drops dead in front of the mic? When J.P. was at KTRH, he could barely read a sentence without messing it up. Why this station would pick them up is odd.

This company also took all of the KTRH rejects, the ones who were fired because they couldn't perform their jobs correctly. They won't be an asset to a radio station company that is already struggling financially.

KTRH rejects?! Wow, MyOp (oh, goodness, who could that moniker belong to?)! That's a great way to sound bitter and crabby about it! It's not the "rejects'" fault the suits dismantled your station and you didn't fight it. And if they are "rejects", why did you hire them? That's usually an indictment of a manager's ability to screen new employees. Karma's a bztch when you kick the best off the 5th floor.

As far as "Sports" is concerned...if you combined the ratings of all the local sports staions in this town (a non-sports kinda town)...you MIGHT garner some decent ratings...and you MIGHT even be profitable.

KILT-AM already beats KTRH 25-54, both overall and in mornings. Get that away from power line and CFL buzz on a full powered FM and you'll keep on printing money. AM is for dying formats and Hindi hits.

Your ignorance is showing. Quality, talent and dedication have NOTHING to do with a journalist's age!   Many venerable TV and radio veterans across the country who've helped make this industry great continue to 'bring it' each and every day, even in the face of such narrow-mindedness.  And by the way, it's common knowledge that certain ethically-challenged CC managers abuse, humiliate and set up newsroom employees to fail. It's no wonder that the meager handful of reporters left at KTRH are doing all they can to get out.

Nobody is going to believe who the station is !!!!!!!!!!!! just a few more weeks!!!!!!!!

It's 92.1, and you're right - I didn't believe it, but that's the frequency.  I half wonder if Merlin is LMAing it from Radio One.

You're right. I don't believe Radio One is doing news in Houston. Merlin is even more remote a possibility.

My bet is still on 96.5.

I really hope it is not Merlin. Merlin just launched news stations in Chicago and New York, and have failed miserably.

See Radio-Info post on the new News station in Houston - there's also a Facebook page in the works.

If they deliver what they're promising (which is actual news, unlike what you get on KTRH) they will earn a preset. The last "FM News Channel" was pretty short on news, but this station seems to have a staff of news people and not talk show hosts. That's a good sign.

Well, chalk that one up!  I said I'd believe it when I see it.  Well, I believe it now.  Good luck
to Radio One and News 92 FM.  It's a high-risk but, if it pays off, high-reward strategy.  Glad to see they're trying new things!

Why would I not want that to succeed? You miss the point. It's just the face that it won't. Period.
