Sorry you don't like being outnumbered, Ebeneezer.  I'm not whoever you think it is either.  Doesn't matter anyway. Your hateful rhetoric is out of line.  Maybe that's the way it works at Clear Channel and KTRH, but in the real world just saying something emphatically doesn't make it true.  If this new venture does in fact succeed, are you perhaps worried about the CC suits changing you from MyOp to NoOp?
Spewing  venom at hard-working, talented people and wishing nothing but failure for something that it sounds like Houston can't wait to be a part of is obviously a personal fear of your own lame product continuing to nosedive.

I believe MyOps is probably short for Myopic -- short sighted.  I really don't understand what your negativity is all about.  The new operation is all about doing something good for Houston -- as in radio that actually serves the public instead of pandering to it.  How could you not want that?  Why would you seem to want that to fail?  Sure, it won't be easy, but nothing worth doing is easy.  I just admire Radio One management for having the courage to go where the radio business was originally meant to go -- making a profit through public service.  How refreshing is that?

This is an opinion based message board right? That's my opinion. This isn't a fan site for "The All News Station That Will Last 6 Months." Just as some of you are really excited about this disaster waiting to happen, I think it will fail. That's my opinion. The majority of Houston could care less about this station. Have you all not read the articles or taken into account the opinions of those that aren't fans of Lana and J.P.?  You're basing the assumption that this station will be a success on the few that have commented on this.

Just because you have "recognized" names, doesn't mean anyone will tune in. People were tuning out at KTRH when Lana and J.P. were there. What makes you think they'll be bigger at this new station so far up the dial? Because it's FM? Think again.

Im just surprised at the fact that Radio One is the one that is doing this format. I was surprised at first that praise was going away, but looking at their recent numbers, im not anymore.

MyOp (or is it TheClearAnswer or maybe even EasyMoney),  I know in corporate radio, that the opinion of the listener doesn't count much... but... as you said, this is an opinion based board so here's one from a "FORMER" KTRH LISTENER.  About the only thing left worth listening to on KTRH is traffic with Darby Douglas (if he is still there).  The talk format that pretty much drives both 740 and 950 is getting old, primarily because there is so much re-tread discussion (and Berry screaming too much... and I'm even a conservative). One of the things that had kept me listening to KTRH in the morning was Lana and JP delivering the news... since they were dumped, I pretty much just listen to my Ipod while driving to and from work.   Now... if the all news station lasts only 6 months, it will be a sad loss, but its demise WILL NOT, be what brings back listeners that have been lost from the so-called news talk stations. There are a growing number of people out there who are tired of having formats forced down their throats, and, tired of seeing some of the best radio talent around, sidelined and treated like they are washed up.  As a listener, I'll do my part in helping this station stay afloat, but I am only one.  I do know of many who have the same disgust for what is being dished out at the "former" new stations, and I will do my part in making sure they know of the alternative that will be coming on line soon.   Radio One... Thanks for taking the chance and putting quality people back on the air who the listeners know and trust.

Its not so much that Cox can't operate them as separate stations. The problem is KGLKs signal. With the talents of Dean and Rog on the payroll...

That reminds me, are D&R still on that "NewsFix" thing on Channel 39? We now know Cox won't be the ones behind the new FM news station in town, but if they were to go that route, they technically have some people on the payroll with news experience, kinda sorta...  Roll Eyes

Look to the product, not the people.  They can only save it from itself for so long.

They weren't tuning J. P and Lana out.  They were tuning KTRH out.  Those two did an excellent moring news show for years; until someone started monkeying around with the format.  You gradually heard less and less real news and more non-news fluff and fill material.
