Rewarding 'mentor' stations that constantly aid a high school noncom
« on: October 17, 2011, 09:13:54 PM »

Tom T, who regularly posts here, has been a GODSEND to WRSG radio. Over the past 10 years, he and the others at Seven Ranges Radio has literally done everything for our station, including bringing us back from the dead after a horrendous lightning strike some years ago. Tom T has totally rebuilt our studio and has installed Simian on both our on-air and pro computers. Space does not allow the continuing kindnesses from this man, his partner and his operations manager (a young man who spent all of one week at our station before moving on to Seven Ranges at 16).

Now, the big question...shouldn't the FCC and/or the IRS REWARD such people? IF they are willing to constantly come to our aid, including saving us many thousands of dollars (including our station's renewal app), shouldn't the government send them some love? Seems reasonable to me! It would create a much-needed 'farm system'-there is at least one young man at our school that would be a 'natural' on radio-he just needs to know that he can carve out some kind of niche and be somewhat involved in radio now and in the future.

You are correct.  There should be "something" good.  The only current thing that could "help" would be some tax credit's if they (Seven Ranges) document the value of time and equipment.  Does your station have a "charity" tax number?  If so give it to them.
