And then the microchip technology in the hand or forehead.  Without it you get nothing.

Interesting that they would adopt plastic money in a country where the pulp and paper
industry is so huge.

A good point, but yet a scary thought too. There's a large portion of that industry in the Quebec part of Canada.
Quebec at one point in the mid 1990's threatened to separate from Canada.
If that industry alone were strong enough to keep them alive, I bet that plan would have gone ahead and plastic money (as a separate currency) would have happened sooner rather than later in Canada.

In the end, it was decided that Quebec wants to leave, but they don't want to go with their own currency.
They wanted to keep Canadian money!

Interesting history Canada has eh?  Smiley

When all was said and done (so far), Canada agreed to accept Quebec as a "distinct society".

Governments make weird decisions.
There was probably some talk and letters to the editors about how the non-progressives who didn't want plastic really wanted everyone to use sheets of wood for currency. You know how people get.

If any of that is true, I'm blaming Quebec!  Cheesy  Wink

So Americans blame Canada and then Canada blames Quebec?
Does Quebec then blame St. Pierre and Miquelon?

After the Treaty of Paris ended the French and Indian or Seven Years War,
all of the French in Quebec were handed off to British rule.  This included large
numbers of criminals, convicts and prostitutes who had been forcibly removed from
France and sent there.

Reportedly this caused King Louis XV to joke that since he stuck the Brits with that lot
he had gotten the better end of the deal.

I honestly don't know. I did not see any frog legs on the menu when I was there last. (visiting back in the late 90's)

They're most famous for their  "Tourtière". ----> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tourti%C3%A8re
