Yes, Cracklin' Rosie is a nice classic.

Is Neil Diamond still writing songs? I know he's still performing, and he can still add "Bonus tracks" to a "best of" CD if he so desires...
I know Elton John and Bernie Taupin are still writing stuff although Elton's new albums are few and far in between these days. With his fame, longevity and absolutely MASSIVE catalog of hits, he could pretty much make a VERY comfortable living playing the same old songs night after night for $150 a ticket x 20,000 (plus merchandise revenue) without ever returning to the studio again.
Neil Diamond lost me when he released this atrocity. I guess it was his attempt to make himself CHR relevant in 1986 (and it did get a few spins, but nowhere near as much as on AC. Then disappeared. I guess he was thinking "If Aretha Franklin, The Stones and Tina Turner can do it....")
