The last thing 107.3 wants to do is go all Christmas. 1) It's an AC thing to do. Not a CHR  2) It's only been a couple months since all the changes between them and 100.7. They're still trying to build the CHR product, and going completely away from the format, even for a couple months, would do more harm than good.  Especially with all the changes that station has gone thru the past couple years.  Things need to be consistent/stable for a period of time for them to have any chance.

107.3 didn't "loose" their audience in FWB.. they happily gave it up to get more Mobile folks under their signal.  Clear Channel has never shown interest in FWB except the recent attempt to get better coverage for WFLF-FM in the Destin/30-A area, and that could have just been a "pet peeve" that CCENG wanted to fix.  Rob, back before you arrived in FWB, CC owned 98.1 but decided it was a good business decision to trade it for a little station in Biloxi (92.5?).  Yeah, it almost seems like they gave away the same 98.1 that would make for a hell of a great signal for a Fort Walton-Pensacola FM news/talk station...  I wish they'd buy 98.1 back from Qantum.

Sad.  Don't know why the CC folks left the small Fort Walton hole in coverage of the Gulf Coast.  They have most of the other rated coastal markets wrapped up nice and tight... no interest at all in Fort Walton (or Dothan... yeah I know Dothan ain't on the big salty).  It seems like a FWB station or cluster could be run on the cheap from a neighboring market like PCB or Mobile...  Mostly the same advertisers in the adjacent markets.  They must know a little more about the radio business than I do.  Cheesy

I drank too much wine and went out on a tangent here, didn't I?

Well, what does their research show about the mobile market? do people listen there or to Alabama's Best Broadcasters? The station clearly sucks and I don't like how repetitive it is. At least ABB has a wider playlist and not playing the same crap over and over. In the beginning, they blanketed FWB, now they don't. The oldies format was, IMHO a success.

I'd like to see Quantum fix the stereo/mono issue which is annoying hearing one song in stereo, the next song in mono.

102.1 and 92.1 are the same way.

if NOW decides to jump ship say in Dec..then, we will know. They have shown interest in the FWB market but it's not their choice. We have FLY and 96.5.

I miss the WYCL call letters WaYCooL

Interesting, how things go around and come around. "Now" was an expression used around 1967. WRKO in Boston was known as "Now Radio" back then, complete with a Johnny Mann jingle stating such.  Unsure who he credit for that goes to, but likely it would be either (the late) Bill Drake, or (the living) Mel Phillips.
