102.7 and 107.5 upcoming format shuffle
« on: October 22, 2011, 03:31:41 PM »

http://www.radio-info.com/news/detroits-urban-hot-to-move-from-1027-to-1075-as-radio-one-lmas-a-third-fm

Looks like beginning Monday, Oct. 24, Hot 102.7 will start transitioning listeners to the new frequency, 107.5 and on Monday, Oct. 31, 102.7 will become Gospel 'Praise 102.7'

Found a couple possible domains for Praise 102.7: http://praise1027.com/ and http://detroitpraise.com/

So far no new domains for 107.5... will it become "107.5 Jamz" or "Hot 107.5"? "Beat" is taken by Clear Channel now... I'd expect 102.7 to take on WGPR (to mean Gospel Radio) calls, and 107.5 to possibly take on WHTD or some other calls...

When Hot 102.7 moves to 107.5 there will be no need for Hot to change their domain. There current is "HotHipHopDetroit.com", which doesn't include call signs nor the frequency. It will just take some graphic updating to the website.

I still see WJLB and WMXD rule the urban dial.

http://www.praise1027.com

That was a decoy, courtesy of WDZH. They must be that desparate to attract listeners and they're not a R&B/Hip-Hop outlet.

I would prefer that 102.7 go to a Classic Hip Hop and R&B format instead of gospel music.

Or Smooth Jazz to replace the recently departed Oasis.

The Freemasons owned WGPR for many years. This will mean signficant changes for these frequencies.

I think gospel on FM could do quite well in Detroit.

I agree... either Classic Hip Hop and R&B or Smooth Jazz would be great on 102.7. Gospel music on the FM dial seems strange. At least it won't be sports or country though!
