Just got an update from Radio World and the FEMA technical director in charge of the test says they'll do it again; time frame is thought to be 6 months.  It was reported in the article that the stations that got the test first were on a phone link...I blame Ma Bell.   Grin

By the oid calendar on the wall, looks like 6 months have passed.  Any updates out there?

I've recently been contacted by stations asking if I know whether or not their report of the test has been filed...that's a sobering testimonial.

When I started in radio in 1967, most broadcast equipment used tube technology, all recorded music was played from records on a turntable by live DJ's, there was no satellite delivery...and radio was fun.

I guess that's called PROGRESS my friends.
Haven't seen any updates on another attempt, and I don't know that I personally care, but if we DID have a national emergency I'd like to think the word via EAS in a timely manner...oh heck who am I kidding??

You don't get into radio, it's born into you.

To get the word out, all they need to do is break into Facebook. Who is anyone kidding...

It's sad the EAS system can't be better designed. It's going to take a failure during a real national emergency for the system to ever get better.
