Christmas on Wash-FM
« on: November 13, 2005, 07:48:44 AM »

Noticed on yes.com that Wash-FM is playing Christmas songs this morning?! They certainly weren't yesterday so it's not a whole preview weekend. Is 'all Christmas, all the time' here on Wash from today? They tend to be quite early, and Christmas tunes do really well for them, but I believe I'm right in thinking this is slightly earlier than last year?

They've been running the usual promos about being 'Washington's Home for the Holidays' as well as a really clever contest using this and playing one Christmas tune a day for some time.

EDIT>> Just a follow up - as of 11am the Christmas tunes were gone again. Only lasted 2 hours according to yes.com. If anyone heard the Christmas music could they explain what happened (the webstream was down)?

I remember WASH FM played Christmas music all day on July 25th.

WASH-97.1 went all-Christmas (based on the playlist published on Yes.com) at 5 A.M. this morning (November 18th).

Talk about an interesting transition: Yes.com reporyts the last "regular" song on the station until after Christmas was Edward Bear's 1972 hit "Last Song"!

The first song was what has become a common first song for a station going all-Christmas, Johnny Mathis' "It's Beginning To Look A lot Like Christmas".

Baltimore's 101.9 Lite-FM has flipped to all-Christmas as well, leaving the area with no AC station until December 26th.
