I just spoke to someone at KTXD-TV. They advised that they plan to launch with programming from Me-TV "sometime in Q1", shooting for late February. The gentlemen said there were "ancillary issues" to be dealt with (I assume that means current contracts with infomercial and paid religious providers).

I am really looking forward to seeing what KTXD can do.

If KTXD does successfully pull this (becoming a English language independent) off, what becomes of KFWD/52? Will they be able to survive in their current form as "Classic TV"?

As long as KFWD is operated by WFAA, they will have all the money they need to keep going.

The bigger concern will be for KTXD to see how much of the Me-TV programming they are allowed to run.  If KFWD has an exclusive syndication window for some of those shows (and I would imagine they do) KTXD will have to block it out.

I wonder if London Broadcasting would be interested in picking up This TV (and if Tribune would be interested in giving it up) to go with Me-TV as they've done in other markets.

Since they're only broadcasting in SD, KTXD/47 will have more bandwidth available for This (on 47.4, say) than KDAF has on 33.3 (my pet peeve ever since This moved from WFAA to KDAF in the first place), which should make This much more watchable.

OTOH, since Antenna TV is a competitor to Me-TV, KDAF may be unwilling to do anything that might help KTXD succeed  Undecided

Something nice for Mexicanal fans

(I'm bumping this thread because I didn't want to start a new thread, or clutter the MeTV thread with an OT post.)

One little thing KTXD has done right this week: they now have the EPG working on 47.3 (Mexicanal) instead of every program being titled "Mexi Program." Roll Eyes

Credit where it's due. Cool Now if only they'd put 47.1 and 47.4 back like they were when MeTV started....

Crook and Chase states "...we're coming soon to Denver and Dallas!", adding "...within the month, you'll be able to find us on KTXD in Dallas".

It appears they'll supplement MeTV with other syndicated fare. I'm eating crow because I really thought London would have just run it as a cheap pay-for-play money machine. I'm still convinced it'll be a struggle as the third English-language indy in a tough ad market.

Bumped this thread after discovering that, according to the RTV program guide, Crook and Chase has indeed come to Dallas - but on RTV (channel 31.4), not KTXD. It supposedly airs Sunday at 10 AM.

Can't blame Bob for being skeptical. At the time, none of us knew about MundoFox or KFWD's upcoming flip to that new network.

Okay, I think I've ironed this out.

K31GL-DT 31.4 runs Crook and Chase repeats as part of RTV programming at 10am Sunday mornings.

KTXD-DT 47.1 runs a NEW episode of Crook and Chase Sunday mornings at 11am - covering up Me-TV programming which can be seen on 47.4 (Brady Bunch airs at that time)

Got it?  :-)
