Infomercial blocks on WMFP
« on: December 13, 2011, 06:36:40 PM »

I checked the Comcast listings and WMFP is showing Me-TV programming for Thursday. It's also showing infomercial blocks between 8a-10a and 10p-2a. I thought Me-TV didn't allow affiliates to do that, or is it temporary to burn off whatever is already booked? I'm bummed - no Perry Mason at 11:30p.

Yep, the infomercials stay on 62-1, but you get the full RTV schedule on 62-2. Smiley

that makes no sense to me at all, according to my Comcast guide the infomercials get reduced from 12 to 7 and Perry mason is on along with cannon!!  and i don't understand how they have the full rtv schedule on 62.2 where no one is going to watch anyhow!!

It's got to be some sort of make-good/contractual issue as I just checked the guide at locatetv and they are running infomercials on Saturday from 6am to 2pm, and from 10pm Saturday Night to Sunday at 2PM, followed by infomercials from 10pm on Sunday Night to 5am Monday morning, followed by the blocks at 6am to 9am.

Just because 62.2 won't have cable clearances right away, it doesn't mean people won't be watching - a lot of folks use OTA digital receivers.

Wow. When did Richard French buy WMFP?

Apparently CT is going to get MeTV, via WSAH-TV 43.  I typed in my zip code at MeTV's website and the following popped up...

Quote
Over the air: WSAH - 43
AT&T (NYC) 43
Cablevision (NYC) 77/15
Cablevision (Hrtfd/New Hvn) 24
Cablevision (Salem) 15
Charter (NYC) 22
Charter (Hrtfd/New Hvn) 22/246
Comcast (NYC) 27/19
Comcast (Hrtfd/New Hvn) 15/22/95/23
Cox (Hrtfd/New Hvn) 75
DIRECTV (NYC) 43
DISH (NYC) 43
Verizon 19

Needless to say WSAH does have cable and satellite numbers.  "MeTV 43" sure does sound good coming off the tongue. But then again, this IS WSAH-TV.

I think it would have been better if RTV stayed on 62.1 and ME-TV went on 62.2 so we could get the full 24 hours of ME-TV.  Just like with any station , they don't care what you want .  I guess i'll keep my OTA antenna up and watch ME on WMUR 9.2 or WJAR 10.2.

Yes, it's a contractual issue in the sense that WMFP said "we'll carry Me-TV on a must-carry station in Boston if you let us run infomercials over pieces of it" and Me-TV said "yes."

Maybe New Haven, but Comcast in Hartford does not carry WSAH.
