Part of Weigel's stipulation as an affiliate was that it cannot be a "Swiss cheese" schedule with infomercials all over the place with only partial MeTV shows.

I guess that depends on how desperate Weigel was to get a must-carry signal in Boston.  Being on channel 17 or 20 on cable and 62 on both satellite systems, both DMA-wide, rather than channel 298 or 308 only on cable in New Hampshire... that's quite a bit of leverage.  Not to mention the same factors for WSAH and the New York DMA.

Is Weigel now going to more must-carry main channel coverage for MeTV, or did they do it to displace RTV? It's clear that Weigel's business plan is to displace RTV in as many markets as possible. (Although those internal issues at RTV that has been alluded to going on late last year, earlier-mid this year didn't help)

NJR has the upper hand with Weigel, they are so desperate to get into the NYC Market they will agree to almost anything.

you just answered your own question.

62.1 is the channel with the cable and sat clearances, while 62.2 is just over the air.

In other words, they get a premium for the airtime on 62.1!

Also, keep in mind the have NO local sales department so all their revenue is made from infomercials and national per inquiry ads!

I don't get the hate for infomercials they're actually keeping alot of tv stations afloat these days.

While that is true the rates that stations are getting per infomercial has been going down, due to the combination of a bad economy, fewer new products coming out and internet shopping. But given their cable position they probably do better than most stations (cable or OTA) on a regular basis.

I don't object to infomercials - I object to the odd starting times I've seen lately. Jumping to one from the middle of a show is not good.

They are not SUPPOSED to be random!

They have listed in various programing grids the following blocks -

10pm to 2am
6am to 9am

Weekend are 10pm Friday to 2pm Saturday
and 10pm Saturday to 2pm Sunday.

Clearly they haven;'t got all the bugs out on the local end it they start infomercials late,or forget to program a half hour block of infomercials during a network hour show.

62.2 seems fine Smiley

We wouldn't have this many damn infomercials if NRJ/Titan actually gave Boston (and NYC) a sales staff and sold local spots! They let the station run on automatic practically with just local input infomercials and Per Inquiry spots.
