WJYS seems to be doing OK picking up everyone else's leftovers. Add to the fact that WJYS is no longer a rimshot as it is off the Willis (Sears) Tower now.
When WJYS first started transmitting it's digital signal from the Sears Tower, reception was non-existant in Chicago's north suburbs because the signal was entirely directional to the south. Reason is that one of Milwaukee's two full-power PBS affilitates was transmitting it's analog signal on Channel 36 at the time.
But even after Channel 36 was vacated in Milwaukee, WJYS continued to send it's signal only to the south from Sears Tower. About two years ago, WJYS changed it's pattern so the signal was equal in all directions from the transmitter.
