It's the weekend so good luck trying to get any information, but does anyone really know that this new tower involves any of the stations mentioned? There are no CP's or applications for FM's that show that location. Could there be some other issue that caused the stations to go to their auxiliary transmitters or drastically reduce power for their main facilities?

KONO 101.1 FM has been running an announcement this past week about reduced power due to new antenna construction. It also suggests to tune to 860 AM if having difficulty receiving the FM signal.

I noticed that, too, jd. There have been no applications indicating any of those stations are moving towers. Then again, I don't believe they'd need an application if all they were doing was rebuilding the antenna at the top of the existing tower so long as all of the current specs remain the same.
I do, however, find it funny that KONO recommends tuning to 860 if you have trouble hearing the signal. I'd be recommending my listeners tune in online or over a smartphone. While Cox doesn't have a mobile app of its own (at least that I know of), its stations are available on TuneIn and FlyCast. Of course, I deleted FlyCast last week because it started crashing every few minutes!

I got to see this the other day when I had to go to Helotes to run an errand. Quite impressive to see two tall towers really close side by side. It looks like the new one is now taller than the old one so it shouldn't be too much longer. They were both lit up that night too. I don't think there should be any applications, just minor changes if they are at the same height and within feet of each other. I would think a new antenna is in order as well. Also a minor change. IIRC correctly there are six stations at that site, KPAC, KSTX, KBBT,KAJA, KCYY, and KONO. Channel 23 KHCE used to be on it as well but they moved several years ago. When I lived in Helotes, 23 used to saturate our portable TV so bad we couldn't get some of the other stations.

So I wonder with this upgrade, will they all be in full HD power as well?

KONO should annouce that AM radio is actually revelant. Tune in to the Big 86 is what I heard. I am suprised they don't call it KONO 860. They call it KONO 86 like we are still in the 1980s.

The new tower up? I wonder if they are just testing it? Some stations do not seem to have RDS yet. The beat seams weaker than normal. KJ is strong with RDS.

KONO wants you to hear the local spots which are covered in the streamed version.

I've just noticed that everyone including KPAC, KSTX, KAJA, KBBT, KCYY, and KONO seem to be at full power now. KAJA even has it's HD and HD2 turned back on. Not the others though.

I was hoping they would of done a full HD 10DB increase with this deal, doesn't look like they did though.
