KRMG Morning News
« on: December 15, 2011, 06:08:32 AM »

Listening to KRMG this morning.  Denver is filling in for Joe Kelley.  Denver sounds great.  This is what KRMG news used to sound like.  Love it!

I was pretty stunned when they brought in Joe Kelley instead of bumping up Denver Foxx.  Nothing against Joe!  Denver just sounds like Tulsa, while Joe does a great job of the hyper, homogenized, "urgent" news style Cox wants KRMG to be doing.

Unless ownership changes, Denver will never have the morning show permanently.  He's a breath of fresh air in a claustrophobic format.

How many people does KRMG have on hand in the morning? The portions of the show I hear consist of 5-6 people ripping dumbass stories off the wire and reading them in an audio booth. Then they're played back to back to back to back. Just annoying when none of them have anything to do with Tulsa or Oklahoma.

The newscasts have really gone downhill recently. The stories posted on the web are riddled with misspellings and factual errors.

The newsreader in the morning really struggles, she's very green and should've spent time on a different shift practicing anchoring rather than being thrown to the morning wolves when most people are listening. KRMG has 2-3 people on staff who would do a better job. No offense, it takes time to build that smoothness, and practice makes perfect. You don't throw someone who's new to radio on that shift.

I've noticed they've dropped the sports segment, which outside of TU Athletics, KRMG carries zero sports.

KFAQ is as wacky as ever so I'm sure KRMG isn't taking any hits in the ratings.

The Pat + Elvis + Eddie show is all over the place. Rather than mindlessly whine about Barack Obama like the rest of the station does outside of Coast to Coast AM, they spend very little time talking about issues affecting Tulsa. It's almost like they've decided Dewey Bartlett is a swell guy, so they're not going to talk about anything locally relevant. I don't know why Journal keeps any local presence.

I still enjoy KRMG most of the time over the two talk options in OKC.
