If you want to see pages, I'd reccomend the thread on the Chicago board about WLS-AM/FM being sold from around a year ago. Going strong at 40 pages.
I don't care much for John Tesh, either. Way too many talk breaks and commercials. The day the last affiliate ditches Delilah (which is coming, in due time) will be a day for celebration.

i guess 18 pages wasn't enough. continue typing
Well, the thread title probably could be changed. It's become sort of the catch all for all things MY. Continue ignoring if you wish. On the MY topic, actually seems like they're dialing back the 80s as well (which I didn't mind as long as they were more upbeat). Sounding better and better. And, IMO, less female-centric.

Agree, they are really improving. I wonder if the more conservative sound started to wear on their ratings in the winter?
MY has added "Glad You Came" by The Wanted. It seems like they're playing "We Are Young" more, as well. They have definitely moved away from "aggressive AC" and more in to "conservative Hot AC", IMO.

Think they also added the new Daughtry single. And, yes, they are playing Fun more. I also have been hearing Goyte. I mentioned this in a CHR thread, but I still haven't heard "Somebody That I Used to Know" on B93.7. I'm sure they're playing it (someone said it was like #23 on their playlist, which I find hard to believe), but it's refreshing to hear something on MY that I haven't heard on B already. To me, and yes people like Scooter have different opinions, one of the more positive changes has been what feels like a move away from strictly targeting a female audience. When they first switched, it was song after song of Pink, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga. They still play them now, but there's much greater variety and more "male oriented" songs. Not saying that they're not still going after a female audience. I just hear more of a balance now.

Not saying that they're not still going after a female audience. I just hear more of a balance now. I agree that they're not so female-oriented - I mean, how much more female-oriented are they than B93.7? Hot 98.1? WSSL 100 (I don't listen to them, but a lot of females I know do)? Not really any more, IMO. Definitely not as much as Magic 98.9. The only stations, like I say, that are "just" for males are 93.3 and 101.1, and the rest are probably split. Yes, MY is somewhat female-oriented, but I can see how there is room for males to enjoy it, also. Especially given the choices in this market. They've made little improvements here and there, that have really made a big difference for the better overall. I've heard Gotye once or twice on B. They're probably playing it a lot at night and late night. Channel 96.1 in Charlotte plays it quite frequently. I don't care much for "Glad You Came", but it does show that they're more willing to play 'daring' tracks than before.

Yeah, "Glad You Came" didn't leave much of an impression on me either. Don't care too much for the new Daughtry track either. But I'm just glad to hear new "adds". After the months and months of very few adds, hopefully, they'll keep up at a better pace now.

Ah, but don't get me started on Chicago events. If it's pages you want Fantastic Word Game is the place.

Just had to keep this thread going with another weekly report.... Still an occassional slow misfire that doesn't quite fit (Journey's "Open Arms" for instance) but overall sounding good this week. Plays of Gotye and Fun. both seem to have picked up keeping them "hip". Heard both Gotye and Fun. several times today. And with non-currents they've played things like Blink 182, Snow Patrol, The Verve and the Killers just this afternoon. Even though they had the P!nk overkill at the beginning, it's a little shocking to hear them pick the not-so-subtle "U + Ur Hand" to put in their current playlist. That's far from a "conservative" hit. Little surprises like that keep me listening.... * Let the criticism of our continued conversation begin *
