I remember when SPA changed up the processing... They had it set just like B93.7 had theirs set... Way to harsh and way to over processed... Dunno if they did not think they could be heard, but it was bad bad bad... Would have been great processing for the stuff The Planet plays, but not AC... As for Fun's We are Young atleast you guys are hearing it... Unless I jam it through Spotify None of the cumulus stations plays it here or the Maveric Media stations for that matter...
'SPA's is too cranked. It's very close or identical to 'FBC's, IMO. It sounds like a ton of noise. They've sounded that way since I've been around here. Their processing should sound more like MY's did before they changed it in the summer.
The worst in the Entercom stable, though, is 93.3 The Planet - talk about noise - it's awful! Definitely the worst in the market and it's been that way for ages. I thought Entercom would've fixed it when they bought it, but they never did.
I certainly don't mind 80s and 90s but if you're at least leaning Hot AC, it would be nice to stick with the more upbeat tracks.
Wanted to qualify that statement and note that even some upbeat tracks from the 80s still don't belong. I have relatives now in their 60s and 70s who were big Michael Jackson fans back in the Thriller days. Don't think that's the audience they should be shooting for.
Yeah, I agree, but a lot of Michael Jackson's hits are popular with just as many younger people, though. At least the one they played was rather upbeat ("Wanna Be Startin' Something" was the song, I think). The Bonnie Tyler, Stevie Nicks, Don Henley, Bonnie Raitt (none of which I've heard today) stuff needs to be left to other gold based formats, IMO. I'd stick with 80s new wave and rock.
