Heard them play it this morning before 7am!

Good to hear that they played it outside of the overnight feed (at least, I'm assuming this after the national feed ended).

I've got to hand it to MY, I really think they did turn some kind of corner about 2 weeks ago. They've been sounding great. Aside from a few songs, they're almost sounding like an adult-leaning CHR as opposed to even just Hot AC.  I can actually listen to them for longer periods of time without cringing. As long as they can keep up with new adds, I think they could do well.

Not sure what made them seemingly come to their senses, but I won't complain.

OK, listening this afternoon, maybe adult-leaning CHR was a bit of a stretch, but definately sounding like the Hot AC they at least seem to claim to be with their "fresh" tag.

I agree!  The sound has really changed for the better.  Seems like they have given up on trying to hang up on the old AC audience and trying to sound like Magic.  They sound much more focused.  As long as they keep up with new adds, I'll be listening much more.

Yeah, they've really gotten it together over the last few weeks. I was very pleasantly surprised to hear Rihanna's "We Found Love" during the 1p hour on Wednesday. I still think they could play a few more currents and rotate them more frequently in their clocks, but they're absolutely moving in the right direction. Good for them.

I agree that rotating some of the currents more often would be good, but I'm not going to complain.  They can't get much more cutting edge than the stuff like new Adele, Fun., Gotye, etc.
They were also very quick on Katy Perry's "Part Of Me", putting it in heavy rotation.

I was listening to them this morning, and it seems like they may not be trying to get the "at work" crowd as much, either (unless someone wants to play it on an individual basis) - I don't see this stuff like LMFAO, All American Rejects, Usher/Pitbull, Shinedown, Gym Class Heroes, Fun., etc going over well as background music in most businesses anymore...Magic pretty much has that title, now.

What's funny is that I wouldn't call The Planet a conservative station. They play a lot of "hardcore" crap that certainly wouldn't sit well with the Bob Joneses of the world.
You know Bob Jones has a conservative station of his own, don't you?

Classical/beautiful during the day, sermons in the evening, sacred at night and on Sunday. With Christian messages prinkled throughout.

Yes, I know that. Was just being sarcastic in that people call this a conservative market and couldn't handle a more "progressive" station in terms of playing newer/alternative pop/rock. But The Planet's playlist should be more offensive to the conservative community than anything considered "cutting edge".

No irony there.

Conservatives have been known to rock out pretty seriously from time to time, just as an FYI.  Don't know that Delilah has ever rocked hard on the air, although when she says to listen to the music she doesn't mean there is a story somewheres.  Too bad ya lost her, but at least her program isn't a daily honey-do list of instructions.   Kiss

Freqdev please forgive me for adding to this pile of road apples, but Silkie,...Milkie,...Satin-ie,...shiney velvet siren of all that's good, and proper.  Sweatheart!...in your lifelong cursade to successfully parallel park, let me deliver to you a keen gasp of the obvious: MY 102 had to painfully wait to get outta the contract, but they did the right thing, and ankled the Queen of Sap.
Regarding the 7p-12m daypart, the station was loosing their ass!  With Tesh across the tracks, and slightly up the dial, he was beating her in the ratings, and his all was to tell listeners how stupid they are if they do this, without doing that...first!
Intelligence for your life?  Right!...and I own Yanni CD's!  If you are going to defend something,...it needs to have some starch.
