Cracks me up, too. The song is based on a poem of José Martí, an independence fighter of the late 19th Century, long before any of the Sandpipers were born.

LOL Nothing wrong with the transmitter at this point. The Station has been running at full 10kw all day today from 6:45 am... and will switch to Night Power at 4:45PM Its still Running On the Temporary ATU. but its up and Running. I am listening To Elvis Right now sitting In My living room with a walkman I live up by Exit 8A of the NJ turnpike.. sounds fine to me

Ahhhhh, but I knew a cute female in college who thought they were singing "one ton tomatoes..." That's what she'd sing with her friends back home.

I'm as white as they come, but I know this only because in high school we were required to take at least two years of a foreign language. I chose Spanish, and my Freshman year Spanish teacher taught us songs of the culture such as Guantanamera and even De Colores. LOL - Ahh, those were the days. high school! LOL
JUAN TANAMERA - THAT'S GREAT!
