Has WILD-AM Fixed Its Volume Problem?

Just checked out WILD-AM 1090 in Boston, and its volume is up where it should be.  It seems since they started airing Chinese programming in English, the content was barely audible for the most part.

It was still too low a couple of days ago, but the problem has been "up and down" since the CRI programming takeover, it has never been constant. I've heard full modulation at times, then barely audible again at other times.

Something may be  intermittent...

China Radio International doesn't care about listeners in the markets it serves here in North America, especially Boston!

These lease-time operations are usually pretty hokey. Both radio and TV. Some Christian TV Network run by The Jimmy Swaggart Ministries is leasing Channel 90 on my Comcast system in Bristol, Connecticut and most days the audio is so low you have to crank the volume up all the way just to here it. (not that I watch it). I don't believe they had these audio problems when Jewelery TV was leasing Channel 90. This Christian network is also leasing Channel 72 on COX 's Meriden system and while the audio is not as bad as on Comcast, it is noticeably lower than the audio on other channels.

WUML was for quite a few months broadcasting on only the right audio channel. They only fixed this recently.

Sounds like a problem in the WILD audio chain, probably an intermittent combined with the audio processing delivering much less than 100% positive modulation. Probably was put in just to get it in and on the air.

One day I noticed that the reading service for the blind was at a very low level on my mono table radio.  I turned on WUML on my main stereo receiver, and the two channels were out-of-phase with each other.  There's a good chance that people who use that service do so with table radios that do not offer stereo listening, so they probably heard nothing.  I haven't checked lately to see if they've fixed it.

this volume issue is annoying.  i actually like listening to CRI - it can be interesting at times.  The only chance I have is in the car during my commute however with the audio so low and the volume cranked, its sonic death when you drive under power lines

SONY makes shortwave/LW car stereos, and there are numerous highpower CRI transmissions from Sackville Canada which boom in on 49 and 31 meters. you can also get european broadcasters near the coast easily. BBCWS on 198 (often with less fading than SW) ,a variety of french, german and Moroccan/Algerian stations, Iceland...

besides WILD and SW theres drive-time CRI on 950 WROL
