DJ Big Bink coming to Columbus as the PD at Power 107 WCKX. Working the 3-7 shift M-F. Moving Nia Noelle moving 10-3 M-F. Pretty good shake up. Now they need to adjust the morning show and get rid of those two by adding Russ Par instead.

Yeah and add some actual mix shows on Friday and Saturday nights, heck maybe even upgrade the playlist by adding newer songs to the playlist quicker like some of the better urban stations in other markets. :-) Anyone know where he's from or where he's worked previously?

He's from Dallas, TX's 979 The Beat. We'll see if the music changes at all.

I wonder what they did with Marcus? I heard him on the radio yesterday. In regards to the morning show, Konata has been there too long and to me acts fake. I also know some people that know him and say that he has a "big head" because of him being on the morning show. Misty is nice but can get on your nerves alot if you listen long enough. I agree with the mix shows and update their play lists more. Sometimes you can hear the same song with-in an hour and half.

I haven't been to Dallas in a while but I'm familar with 979 the Beat. They actual compete with my all time fav urban station KKDA K-104 (I listen to that station online quite often) so hopefully we can hear some change here on Power and hopefully very soon :-) I never understood the lack of mixshows in general for an urban radio station especially at night on the weekends. I agree with ur take on Konata (i dont know him personally but dude does seem to have a big head and his head is huge also LOL), Misty is cool but a little can go a long way (not sure shes an actual radio person but I've heard alot worse) not sure whats gonna happen to Marcus he always seemed like he was being held back a little but he was ok. I've always prayed for another urban station to provide some much needed competition and possibly improve Power so whatever changes may be coming with this new PD I welcome them cuz I for one am tired of having such a lack luster urban radio station :-)

The Sunday show you're referring to Street Soldiers. I would assume it's staying? Power's been looking for a new PD for a long time. Listening now and they have Nia in middays with a new throwback mix at noon. Maybe Big Bink will cook up something for the 5pm hour unless they're using the produced mixshows that are sent in. I listened to a little bit of The Beat today and they have a SLIGHT rhythmic lean playing more Rihanna and Baby Bash. Imaging was a lot better too with Rickey Smiley in the morning. Now THAT is something I would listen to.

the imaging on Power can use a ton of improvement. does the rotation sound any differnet today (been at work all day and I think I listened to the Fan on the way into work this morning LOL) As for Big Bink from what my people in the DFW say he used to mix alot himself on the Beat and though he was pretty good a lot of them still prefered K-104 (take that for what its worth, K-104 is a locally owned station in a major market which is rare and they've done there own thing and done it well for 30 years plus and going now.) The Beat does list itself as a Rhythmic

The imaging is NOTHING like most of the R1 stations, however today, it does sound a lot better. The songs are overlaying with the imaging and it sounds a lot more "big city". The music rotation doesn't sound a lot different, but I never thought the rotation was all that bad, just the songs IN rotation. I see The Beat and K104 are almost even in the Dallas-Fort Worth book with K104 only behind ahead a little in PPM.

Hey, I like the "big city" radio sound and hey if The Beat and K-104 were close then I think thats a good thing and the people who enjoy that music are the real winners, IMO. and I did mean the actual songs in rotation LOL the only other R1 mainstream urban stations I've really ever heard where The Wiz in Cinncy, Z107 in Cleveland and The Boxx in Houston, all of who sound better music and imagining wise then Power has ever sounded here
