Madonna Half Time Show
« on: February 05, 2012, 07:25:41 PM »

OK let me start by saying I thought it was great.  I'm not a huge Madonna fan.  I only own her hits CD.  For me, it ended too soon.

It was visually interesting, which is exactly what people expect from Madonna.

She debuted her new single.  It fit in context with the past hits.

Yes, she seemed to slip a little at the top of the bleachers.  But she recovered quickly.

And yes, she lip-sync'd the entire thing.  Who cares?  If I want to see great live singing, I go to the opera.  Not a football game.

like i said in another thread i thought it was all glitz and visuals and no substance.superbowl performance or not i think lip-syncing is cheating the audiance.

Considering the venue, and the way she usually stages her performances, I don't see it as that big a deal.

I didn't think it was a bad show, either. Not one I would go nuts over, but it was reasonably entertaining and time-killing.

i am old school.i would prefer less fancy sets and a real singing and insturmental performance.if the fancy dance moves make it too hard for the performer to do their own singing cut back on the dance steps and do real singing.keep it real.

a diffrent subject  but kinda related if rock and pop performers did not have fancy sets that cost a lot of money they could charge less for a ticket and still make money.at the same time it would be better on the consumer.

Probably not the best, but not the worst either.

For me the floor changing special effects seemed to be the best part of the show.

I think Taylor Swift proved you can have fancy sets, and still keep the prices of tickets relatively affordable.

I didn't get a chance to see the show, but I get a visual image of Madonna looking like this:

From ESPN:

For all the pomp and excess of Madonna's Super Bowl halftime extravaganza a single extended middle finger by guest singer M.I.A. is likely to be the most remembered piece of the show.

NBC has already apologized.  The NFL had no comment.  I completely missed it.  And I didn't miss the Janet Jackson thing.  Had MIA exposed her breast, I would have seen it. Smiley)  Not a fan of MIA at all.  But I like CeeLo.

Excellent show on TV and I'm guessing even more spectacular for the fans in the stands.  On TV there were just quick shots of the whole light show but it looked great.  I've enjoyed virtually every Super Bowl half-time show.  Some because I really thought the performances were hot, and some because I really didn't like a particular group and watched just to reaffirm that my opinion is always right.  Geez I'm SO modest!   Tongue

She still looks and performs well and sounds great for an old broad but I found the rest of the show to be a bit silly and as usual very over done
