Cumulus Cincinnati chief engineer arrested
« on: February 05, 2012, 09:37:43 PM »

My question is - how did no one notice the $129k worth of stuff missing!

http://www.wcpo.com/dpp/news/region_central_cincinnati/norwood/local-radio-engineer-facing-felony-theft-charge-allegedly-ripped-off-cumulus-for-more-than-129k

I heard a used equipment dealer ended up with a piece of the gear, figured out where it came from and called the cops.  Don't know how true that part is though...

Incredible. It never dawns on people that you will get caught. They never know when to quit stealing. He probably won't do much if at all jail time.

Maybe the court will sentence him to build his own electric chair, with the stolen parts of course!   Grin

Well it might be $129K worth- because that's what they paid for it in 1982.  Cheesy

It could be stuff that's been laying around the transmitter site for years, and nobody knows because nobody has ever been to the transmitter site except the GM.

At this point there are way more questions than answers.

Can you imagine how much copper it would take to amount to $129k? WOW!

It depends on how you count it. If it was an old antenna or old transmission line that was laying around for years, but originally cost $129K, and he took it to the scrapyard to sell the copper, his employers could come after him for theft and say the value was what they paid for it.

Theft is still theft, and it's still wrong. But this could easily be something like that.

For the record, none of the records or other stuff in my basement and garage ever belonged to Cumulus!
