106.7 WYAY is now Atlanta's "More Variety" Station
« on: February 06, 2012, 09:23:22 PM »

Listening to WYAY at the moment...... they are running spots saying they are Atlanta's "More Variety" Station.  I thought this was usually just used on Soft---Mainstream AC stations.  I guess you might consider AGH a REALLY SOFT AC station, though it would be a REAL big stretch.  I tell you that they need a variety of SweetJack commercials.

He looks around.... looks for great deals all over town.  SweetJack, SweetJack, SweetJack.com Even though he's just one-foot three he knows the latest technology.  Thats SweetJack, SweetJack, SweetJack.com.

If I hear one more of those darned commercials, I will just have to flip the channel.  Besides, does no one not want to advertise on their station?  Cumulus owns SweetJack, so they aren't getting any revenue off of it.

Let's Ponder.........

The SweetJack commercial is absolutely horrendous. I don't know what Cumulus' problem is when it comes to commissioning painful jingles for their in-house ventures. Remember "C-U-M-U-L-U-S...Cumulusjobs.com?"

I don't think you could call it "really soft AC" - I've heard classic hits stations run liners that promote that they have "more variety", but I've never heard it used as a regular positioner.

I think WYAY has improved in the past few weeks.

I have to say I'm so impressed with a couple of posters on this board.

First, there's wpb1999.  For a 13-year old to know so much is mighty impressive.

Then, there's Jabba17.  I just can't get over how a 95-year old is still so enthused by the business.

More Variety is just a liner. The music is getting better as they are adding a lot more music, some 60's and 1 more 80's per hour.

First of all, as I have told you before, 1999 was the year I got married again.  I am retired and 56..... and i don't think I could have worked as an intern at W Group NYC in the 1960s, now could I?

Sorry--- I meant "Group W", but i really did intern there.  I really enjoyed spending time with 1010 WINS people.... in the 60s they were very nice!
