With the exception of sports and maybe talk radio, actual DJ's who were personalities, and were a reaon why one would listen to a particular music format are all but gone. I know I am dating my self but I am talking about Hy Lit, Joe Niagra at WIBG or George Michael or Jim O'Brian (all deceased).
Yes, you are dating yourself indeed. I have this self-efacing gag about "dating" myself,
"...yes, I'm dating myself. But that's because the women won't return my calls! But seriously folks..."Ok, back to the thread-- You must be old enough to remember radio's heyday, or you wouldn't be missing it so much. You are not alone in your lamentation over the demise of radio personailities. I miss them too, and I believe there are many others like us out there. In my opinion, successful radio personalities were the ones whose on-air delivery styles made you think they were talking to you personally, as if you were their only listener. Good radio personalities were artists who pirated listener's imaginations with the challenge to draw the picture themselves, since radio offered no video. Alas, the day of radio artistry is long gone.
