Well, it hit the local rag the other day... read more here... http://www2.independenttribune.com/news/2012/apr/07/wtix-back-air-concord-ar-2136494/
Wonderful.

I just wonder how hard it would be for Radio Free Cabarrus to take this over?

Though I like the music and wouldn't want to lose it. The presentation doesn't sound like it belongs in this area. I feel like I'm in the mountains surrounded by farms.

The Classic country music format sounds pretty good when broadcasted from satellite {like 550 AM in statesville}. Though, they should have not added this local morning show.

Why do you say that? Broadcast radio does not have a local station.

I mostly like the music and not the talk. I understand Charlotte is missing alot of local broadcasting.

Classic country is one format that was missing in this area for a long time. Hopefully it stays..

I do like music rather than talk, though the advantage of an all-local station like WBRF is DJs to tell you what you heard. I'm learning about a lot of new songs I never heard before.

But one thing I hated about the old WEGO was the morning show was just talk. They had a format similar to WAVO at one time but only after 9 in the morning.

Community service does mean a lot.

The last time I listened in the morning they had plenty of music. But then there was an interview with some town official coming up. I always hate these on my usual station but at least that means the station has a reason to exist that should attract advertisers and keep it on the air.

Although the lovely spouse despises the classic country music, I do have a fondness for it. But jeez, even here in Concord, the signal is dirty and fuzzy. What's up with that?

Also, except for the station IDs, it appears to be a simulcast of 550. Flip back and forth, and the song is the same.

I'm finding it's clearer away from Concord than it used to be.

You ought to try WAVO. Talk about a bad signal. Power lines make it worse. But I do love that music.

It's not like they can afford local programming other than the morning show. I seem to recall hearing WAME has the satellite format Classic Hit Country or whatever they call it now.
