The Leap Day Massacre

Today is technically the 1st anniversary of The Leap Day Massacre, an event in which many good people here and across the country who devoted themselves to their work were told to hit the streets. In a way it was a blessing.  I found out who my true friends were.  To those who were true blue, thank you.  To the rest, well, bless your heart. 

Even though I was still in shock from that surreal moment when Rick Mack, white as a sheet, stood before us to read a statement (which he was told to do), I walked out of there and did not look back.  I came home and posted here those 4 words that remember this day...The Leap Day Massacre. 

We're all doing just fine.  Can't say the same for those left behind.

Mitchell,I was going to post something about but you beat me too it. The worst part about the whole deal was that Rhubarb Jones a man who dedicated his life on and off the air to the Atlanta community for 23 year,was thrown out like an old news paper. Sad.

Did Citadel cover your health insurance for March.  If you are lucky enough to have heath insurance at work, and you employed the first day of the month you have it all month.  When I was cut loose from KIUL,  I had a physical, and out patient surgery in the last 2 weeks of the month.  Most employers do not tell you that you have "free" coverage for the rest of the month.  The billing and traffic secretory told me.

It's amazing all the executives and the family run radio CORPORATIONS that got greedy, overpaid for stations, ruined hard working family's incomes, and still received bonuses as a result of it.

Yeah, the four C's of Radio pretty much ruined their own industry.  The greedy bastards have no one to blame but themselves for it.  Well, except for Clinton signing the 1996 Telecommunication Act.

I think I should write a book about it.   Radio killed the Radio Station.....

You're correct that Clinton signed the Telecommunications Act, but he's not totally to blame.  He was in favor of limited consolidation.  But Congress passed the bill and aggressively lobbied for Clinton to sign it.
