today's TV viewers are too sophisticated and demanding than to accept step-down script writing on a show that once had them rolling with laughter.
have you seen most of today's tv viewers?  Shocked Shocked Shocked

Say what you will about Charlie Sheen, his character made that show and without Charlie the show has done to hell in a hand basket.
I personally don't find anything amusing or entertaining watching actors pretending to throw up on each other. What's next a pie fight?

Either bring Sheen's character back from the grave, or just cancel the damn show.

Have the demo's changed much from prior seasons to this season?

I'm thinking, if anything, the average age of a viewer might have gone down since Kutcher is known mostly by the younger set and not especially liked by older viewers.

I've heard a lot of former viewers say they no longer watch "Two and a Half Men" and most seem to be older viewers.

The funny thing is, looking at overall ratings, the show seems to have grown a bit over last season's numbers.  It's hard to argue in favor of cancelling the number 1 show in it's timeslot, and a top 3 comedy week over week, top 10 in all broadcast shows.

Personally, I think the show is different now than it was, but still pretty funny, although I haven't cared for the last two episodes.  I wish they'd bring the ex wife back into the mix a bit, but now that Jake is so old it makes sense that she's taking more of a "hands off" approach with regards to getting Jake over there.  I was also hoping Rose would stay with the show, and I miss Berta quite a bit.

I know the goal was to make good on a syndication package that was sold, so they wouldn't have to refund that money.  Since this is the last season they pre-sold, and it's the last year of the contract, I'd be very surprised if it comes back next year, especially considering how much they are paying Kutcher.  With that said, again, it's still hard to argue success, and this season, with the exception of last week, has been a hit.

Yes, it is hard to argue success.  But it's even harder to reconcile how the MEN script could have taken such a crappy dive while maintaining such high ratings.

I agree.  I've been expecting a nosedive in the ratings all season, it just hasn't happened.

The first couple episodes this season seemed ok, but over the last couple weeks this show is really going downhill fast.

But that is all it's ever been, one bathroom joke after another. Since day one we have had to endure the little kids descriptions of his bowel movement, Berta's jokes about his skidmarks and his gas problems. And then add to that Alan's functions, it's has always been toilet humour

I have to admit I was 100% wrong about it failing without Charlie. I guess bathroom jokes is all it takes to make a hit series. Notice how BBT is falling back on them too.

Hold on, the clock is still ticking on both sitcoms.  I'm skeptical about both shows, and their prospects for life beyond summer 2012, especially MEN.

I don't watch, but then again, I am suffering from "Ashton Kutcher fatigue," so I tend to try to avoid anything that he is in, which isn't easy these days!  Roll Eyes
