Apex does do that a lot with 95.9. Their 4th format in less than 3 years. Started as oldies, did very well I felt, then suddenly flipped it to country, then Lite after the country format moved to 92.5, and now this format.
99.3 and 980 AM are Spanish now. 910 is sports. Apex basically treats 95.9 now, IMO, as their testing ground. If it gets good ratings and demographics, it stays on. If not, try another format. There weren't any personalities on Lite, so it's just re-imaging.
1340 has a loyal following. They have been on beach music probably four or five years, and have the Clemson sports rights, which gives them a lot of revenue.
Mix is trying to go after 102.5, and I can't really blame them. 102.5 is one boring radio station. Will be interesting to see how they do, or how long they'll give it.
So far, there's nothing on Mix 95.9 online, that I can find.
I'll say one last time, oldies should have stayed on 95.9 and Kickin' should have just gone on to 92.5. Lite 95.9 was, essentially, just a watered down, sleepy version of 95.9-IOP. I'd take the latter any day. The only stable stations Apex seems to have on FM are 99.7 and 101.7.
