Carolinaradio,

I believe that 4-share was a result of WTCB going half-way all-Christmas. I am anticipating that they will be back below that. Unfortunately, the Phase I's are embargoed for this market.

Sorry for the quote, but for some reason simple reply is missing... I say if the job can't be done then it is time for a change with management. Where I work if you can't get results they bring people in who can. I think with the right tweaking B can still be a good station. I am not sure if all the Cumulus AC's are programmed like their CHR and Country counterparts are, but I am willing to bet they are. Like I saio B has been around 27 years, but in the world of radio today heritage does not mean squat and if B is off it's game Cumulus will work with it, but if it is still failing the format wheel will be spinning and if it is Country I can see it being "Great Country which is Cumulus country brand or either the "I"brand for CHR, but I don't see those two happening just yet...

I know, that's why I was saying that it looks that, perhaps, WOMG's loss was WTCB's gain.  WOMG was hit in the fall book.  Perhaps their audience went over to B for Christmas music.

I agree...in the next book, I expect B down, Magic up.

Who would like to help me organize a crusade to bring back Bill Benton to Good Morning, Columbia and restore Woody to Magic?  My objective is to force Cumulus' hand without causing any harm to Woody, who is also a fine gentleman and supremely talented broadcaster. What is your opinion of organizing teams of people to contact sponsors of Cumulus radio stations (EXCEPT for Woody's advertisers) and ask them to withhold their commercials until Bill is restored to WIS and Woody is restored to Magic? I would settle for Bill without Charlie, but would really prefer to have them both on.  Comments?  Opinions?  I'd really like someone who resides in the Midlands to lead the charge, but I will contribute significant time and effort.

From Tim Miller's facebook:

I'm so excited to announce that Good Morning Columbia with Bill and Charlie Benton will be coming to Carolina 92.1 starting Monday April 9th! Now back on FM covering 22 counties...tell your friends about Columbia's best and longest running morning show!

Oh My God!!  Another reason to not listen to Carolina 92.1.  I grew up listening to Bill Benton and frankly he is boring now, and if all they are going to do is talk, why waste my time.  Is Uncle Tim trying to kill this station or what?  I would rather them just put this station on shuffle like the Dove in Tampa does.  I quit listening to Carolina 92.1 after Tim started monkeying around with the station and frankly I have said this before he is boring to listen to and everything he touches lately goes to crap, so maybe he needs to leave things alone and get out of the business.  JMO.

Not a move I would have made.

I know Bill Benton had been a "name" at WIS-AM. But he hasn't been close to being on the radar screens of anyone under 80 in at least 15 years.

Glad he's got a a gig though.

As for the Doble O stations, if you are going to go, go big.

I could not disagree more with the last two posters.  First, where is the evidence that Bill Benton's listeners are all over 80?  As a steady fan for years, I can tell you for a fact that most of Bill's callers to the show are middle-aged full-time working people like myself.  Second, where is your appreciation for Bill as a superb raconteur and a kind, caring southern gentleman?  Isn't that what local radio should be all about?  Waking up to Bill Benton is like feeling a gentle summer breeze through an open window. Woody Windham is great, but Bill is the very best.

Let me know how I can help promote Bill & Charlie Benton coming over to 92.1.  I'd be glad to hand out tee-shirts and other promotional materials to friends, neighbors, at festivals, etc.

By the way, what will happen to Murphy and the current morning crew on 92.1?

With all dude respect, Bill Benton was an adult standards announcer/personality since the 1990's and was a WIS AM superstar in the 1970's and possibly early 1980's. The only folks that would remember him in a mass appeal format would now be in their early 40's at best. The people that would have fond memories of him are at least 70. That is being kind, since most folks in the 35-70+ range would have listened to Leo and Woody. Woody was doing current based radio well into the mid-1990's.

Glad someone is a fan, but lets be realistic. Where is the evidence? Look at WISW in the arbs.

I tuned into 92.1 today. It is a mess.

Looks like Tim has another persona on here.
