It has a lot more to do with radio in the Seattle/Tacoma area than the quality of KMCQ's stream or how many times a day they play Kokomo for starters.

Looks like they jumped the gun. CKMO is gone (as of 10PM). FM Steve.....I promise I will never step out of line again. You won't see anything related to CKMO on the Seattle radio board ever again on my behalf.

It was mentioned earlier. And the signal WAS receivable in Puget Sound.

But as Dan says, they're history now....Onward.....

I tried to listen to them in the car in Seattle over the weekend while running errands, but it was like trying to listen to a distant shortwave signal (on what otherwise, and formerly, was a pretty steady signal, and was pretty clear along the waterfront, and on I-5 all the way into Vancouver).  A combination of no maintenance on their tranhsmitteer for probably 20 years, and splatter from KISI that goes way beyond where it should.  And the worst noise on my radio came from traffic signals and power lines.

I never once heard a mumblin' word on their air, however, about their impending demise. And listening online right now, they're still saying they're "broadcasting on AM 900" in their recorded liner following the BBC hourly newscast.  But on my car radio this morning, they were, indeed, gone.  Oh, well. 

Shutting off the transmitter for "Village 900" feels kinda of like the death of a cousin that I liked.

After that station (which I promised I wouldn't mention anymore, but it kind of rhymes with C_MO) signed off for good last night I was blown away by who took their place on the dial. Not CKBI as I had expected, but KKRT in Wenatchee with those huge 72 nighttime watts was dominant on 900. Kind of mind boggling when you consider that Wenatchee is about 150 air miles away from here with a range of mountains in-between.
