Double standard?
Carbonite didn't pull its ads from the Ed Schultz show, even though he referred to a conservative host as a "talk slut"
There's a huge difference. Schultz was contrite almost immediately - perhaps his wife/producer was giving him that "look" through the studio window. Secondly, his was a one-time slip, for which he apologized on the air and personally by phone. Third, he took himself off his own radio show, where he committed the offense, for a week, and he was also suspended from MSNBC.
Limbaugh, on the other hand, kept it up for three days; only after sponsors started pulling their ads did he issue a so-called "apology", maybe after being leaned on by a bunch of Clear Channel execs and corporate lawyers. His apology in effect says "I wish I had found other words to insult Ms. Fluke". His business is words, and he knew exactly what he was saying.
Yes, there most certainly
is a double standard - Limbaugh is still on the air.
As for Laura Ingraham, who was rightly offended by Mr Schultz's language: where is her complaint about Limbaugh and her defense of Ms. Fluke?
And where are the station owners and program directors, who have the editorial freedom to set standards for their airwaves? If they have mothers, wives, daughters and granddaughters, how can they even look them in the eye?
