Anybody care to speculate what could happen now? Perhaps J.P. snapping up Hammond. He already has Ed. With their experience, not to mention contacts in country music, the potential is their to do a great job with a country format on 100.3. Just my thought.

There was talk of his taking a high-profile job in Knox County government a few months ago.

As chairman of the County Commission, he's not legally able to take a county job unless he resigns his commission seat.

The move from first to worst begins. Soon, look for your new DJ staff, Thing One and Thing Two. Over 40 years of Knoxville FM heritage, gone. It was a great ride, Frog. Enjoy the ride down to the bottom.
There want be a "ride" to the bottom it will be a crash and burn.

Honestly, I think the ride to the bottom began the day the sale from the Dicks to Citadel became final.  That's been about 10 years now.  Mr. Dick's probably spinning in his grave right now.

According to the local newspaper bloggers it was Mike Hamilton not Mike Hammond that was responsible for the decline of WIVK. Hammond must be the one that screwed up the VOLS football team.

I'm personally glad that Cumulus made this decision simply because of the way that Mike Hamilton handled the programing decisions @ WIVK during the 2011 spring storms that caused so much wide spread damage and led to the largest power outage in KUB's history. [EDIT]

I remember hearing wall to wall coverage on WIVK that night; and coverage on 98.7 during the day (it is true they did not simulcast WIVK coverage on 98.7 that night; they did this past Friday, however).

Mike Hamilton is getting blamed for everything these days.  I would not be surprised if someone didn't blame him for the sinking of the Titanic.

Where would Citadel be today if Lane Kiffin hadn't encouraged them to buy ABC Radio?

This makes Ron Meridith the Dean of Knoxville country radio now.  The King is dead.  Long live the King.

Bob Raleigh in Knoxville!?!  The Cumulus version of "one-size-fits-all" (and worse) is now coming to Big Orange Country...and the radio product will never stink out loud more.

Bob Raleigh is a clown...and a Cumulus clown at that.  He fits in well with the big top ringmasters at the Dark Cloud.

Every move they make seems to validate those of us who got tossed by this collection of asshats.
