The end of John & Ken?
« on: March 21, 2012, 06:33:22 PM »

http://losangeles.cbslocal.com/2012/03/21/city-council-warns-crack-ho-comments-intolerable-calls-for-diversity-in-talk-radio/

Is Tim Conway Jr. Toast too? Would Rush be penalized if he says something offensive via KFI? And what, praytel, would be the City Council's punishment?!?!

This, my friends, might be the end of talk radio in LA.

This, my friends, might be the end of talk radio in LA.

And the end of free speech in general:

Bill Maher, Louis CK and a lot of others would apparently have to tape their shows elsewhere. Half of BET's programming will have to be cancelled and a huge amount of urban music will need to be taken off the playlists.

What a pile.  A first year law student could tell you this would NEVER pass Constitutional muster.  Talk about wasting the taxpayers' money...

Credit where credit is due.
Salute Bill Handel ("dumb ass women") Rushbo (slut & prostitute Sandra) and John&Ken (crack-ho singer)

They had the guts to say it on air and they are still on air

Rushie is king of all radio and Handel and John&Ken are KFI kings of LA

Long live the radio kings.

Only KFI has the guts to put these voices over the air daily.

Randy,

You have really come around on this issue. This is why I never give up on anyone.

Of course most people won't realize you're just being sarcastic - to them you're coming off as really insightful!

A first year law student?

As I understand it, people are taught at age 5 to read, and some start reading even younger than that.

Reading the First Amendment, I see: "Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press".

I would think someone with an IQ several thousand points lower than mine (and I have an AS-type disability) would be able to figure that means we can say what we want without fear of consequences, or something along those lines.  At least that's how I see it.  (If I really wanted to nit pick, I might even go so far as to say the FCC has no business telling people they can't say the F word on the air during prime time or midday... and part 15 rules seem to restrict freedom of the press.)  On the other hand, I can understand having some checks and balances, though, due to.. (oh wait this isn't a religion forum, and I'd probably go to the Bible for explaining my reasons).

Bet no talk show host in LA has the balls to talk about this topic!

The Los Angeles city council has become notorious of late for occupying their time with senseless and often futile resolutions on matters outside their jurisdiction. On the other hand response times in medical emergencies seems to be outside their attention space while a talk radio over the top comment seems to fascinate them.  Sad

This is a HUGE opportunity for John and Ken to lay into the inept, corrupt, irresponsible, and unresponsive LA City government and compare the activities they are engaged in versus the activities they actually should be involved in. If J&K play this right, it could be a gift that just keeps on giving.

Couldn't believe my ears! Geraldo played the John & Ken Whitney-crack-go comment, and Rush clip calling the college activist Fluke a prostitute! John Phillips also talked about the issue.  Did a double-take at my radio dial to make sure I was listening to 790 kabc! (Can kabc replay KFI programming?).

Certainly going to be interesting to hear what John & Ken say about the issue, if they talk about it at all. They have to walk a tight rope on this one. This story will only get hotter!
