When was the Casey Kasem "Top 40" show first introduced to the Houston audience? What was the Radio Station and on who's show did it first air?

Shootin' from the hip, I'd say that it was on KRLY 94 (93.7 then) since I recall hearing it there especially during the Love 94 days, but that's just one wild guess, probably not the right answer; also remember it on KIOC as well back then, well, okay that's two that can be likely ruled out

Close guesses (1977), but you have to go back to July of 1970.

A lot of AM top 40 stations carried AT40 in the early 1970s. In Houston, wouldn't that have been a station like KILT?

It would have had to been very early 1970s as KNUZ changed to country in February 1973. (Country Fresh Kay-News) Speaking of KNUZ, the KNUZ/KQUE reunion is Saturday, May 26th at Los Tios on Westheimer at noon for all of the gang who used to work for Texas Coast Broadcasters.

KNUZ was still T-40 in Nov. '73 when I left Houston for St.Louis. The two Country stations at that time were KIKK & KENR.

I can remember listening to American Top 40 on KRBE back around 1977. I would flip flop between 104 and 610 pretty regularly and don't remember it being on 610 (however my memory is not as good as it used to be). In the 60's and early to mid 70's 610 was pretty much the only station I listened to since I only had AM, and I don't remember it being on KILT during that time frame either. IIRC... it came on around 10 ish on Sunday morning on 104, but can't remember who was doing weekends back then.

I have a Casey Casem Top 40 songs countdown aired back in 1994 on KRBE, I guess that was the last year KRBE aired Casey Casem's Top 40. I don't remember it after 1-1-1995 on KRBE.

I will ask Arch Yancey at the KNUZ/KQUE reunion about the time when KNUZ became Country Fresh. I remember it differently, because I listened to KNUZ on my way to work to Texas City (until the signal played out) while I was on KTLW.
There were other country stations at the time. KIKK-FM and 920 KTLW which covered Houston like a blanket. During the 1960s, KTLW was known as the "Country Giant" and "Katie Lou." During that time, KIKK, KENR and KTLW were all daytimers with KIKK-FM on the air 24 hours. However, FM had yet to become dominant.
