Me either Iheartradio is used for sports and sports talk same goes with tunein and radio.com CBS company! But other than that Iheartradio lacks music.

So true!

Supposedly Echo Nest powers the custom stations in Spotify, MOG, and possibly Rdio too. Personally, I don't find any of those services have good radio features. I don't know if this is bad implementation on their part or if this is because the data created by Echo Nest isn't good. So far though I have yet to see a single good radio product using Echo Nest. They all present me more music I don't like than music that I do. Of course between these 3 services, there is no way to vote up/down a song. It appears Echo Nest can't or doesn't in these cases, take into account personal tastes. It is possible it browses your library or song history, but you can't create a true station from that.

Does anyone here like one of these services' radio feature?

It seems Raditaz is powered by Echo Nest.

At this rate Pandora stock should be soaring in no time. All their competition is switching to the same engine to power their custom stations. And they are all awful! It doesn't matter how many blogs, tweets, facebook pages, etc. you search to build your station engine. Some teenage twitter queen can in theory impact what I want to hear using Echo Nest. How does that even make sense? You can't build a custom station to your tastes if it doesn't ask you what your tastes are. If you can't add more than one seed and you can't ban artists, then it is a waste of time. And if it doesn't actually learn, which it seems it doesn't, then what good is it?

Yep it seems like it is! That's why pandora is the best radio.

Upon further investigation it seems a lot of my (and no doubt others) bad experiences are fault of the service itself and not the algorithm behind it. Even so I am not going to say the algorithm works for me near as well as the one for Pandora, Slacker, or Jango. But I can't place as much blame on Echo Nest. These services simply have not made good implementations of it. Comparing some of the Echo powered services, their results while similar don't have to be according to the documentation on the Echo Nest website. There seems to be a lot of untapped power according to the API documentation. Ban artist for example, can be done. These services simply don't bother and that would make a huge impact on a stations quality.

Multiple seeds are also possible. Why don't these services take advantage of it? I have no idea.

Actually, Pandora is losing it's listeners.

Doubt it will make a comeback.

and here's a program pandora uses to directly measure it's site visitors

You are right bout that radiophilly! I do like jango I can make a channel and put the bands and or artists in their and it's a great mix for me but the swearing needs to be censored so I can listen to jango! If slacker had a huge mix of alternative and rock.

I do have to thank you, raditaz was a great site.

What's hurting Pandora is it's "skip limit". It's got great features, and a clean site design so it's appealing. But some people will get sick of the skip limit.

Some people want that cause if they put in a cd it should be like that! Fans love that I can have it both ways.
